Introduced in France around 1490, Baccarat is the French variation of the Italian game Baccara (bacarra in Italian signifies the point value of face cards). Very popular among nobles during the reign of Charles VIII of France, Baccarat was considered high rollers’ favorite game.
Baccarat has three main variations: Punto Blanco (American Baccarat), Chemin de fer (played mostly in European and French casinos) and Baccarat en banque (very similar to Chemin de fer with the exception that one player will remain the dealer and banker for the entire shoe).

Once the player is content with the total value of his cards, the dealer deals to himself until his cards total 17 or more points.
